Privacy

We collect what you type into the contact form, plus ordinary web logs. We do not sell mailing lists of 4WD travellers.

Reviewed 17 October 2026

Verify before you travel. Permits, closures, tides, fire bans and track conditions change. Confirm with the parks agency, the state transport site, and the Bureau of Meteorology. This desk does not publish live availability, prices, or invented events.

4x4news.com.au is a small editorial site. We do not run an account system. We do not require you to register to read a guide. The personal information we see is mostly what you choose to type.

Contact form

The contact form sends your name, email, topic and message to the editorial inbox through FormSubmit. That is a third-party processor. Do not put payment-card numbers, driver’s licence images, or other people’s details in the box. We use the message to reply about corrections, sources or guest copy. We do not use it to build a marketing list.

Hosting logs

Like most websites, the host may record IP addresses, browser software, and requested URLs to keep the site up and to diagnose abuse. We do not publish those logs.

Cookies and analytics

We do not attach a marketing pixel as part of this rebuild. If a host dashboard records anonymous traffic, that stays in the dashboard. This privacy page will be updated if that changes.

Official links

Outbound links to parks.qld.gov.au, parks.sa.gov.au, parks.vic.gov.au, exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au, parks.tas.gov.au, nt.gov.au, bom.gov.au and state transport sites are other organisations. Their privacy rules apply once you leave.

Access and correction

If you want a contact-form message looked up or deleted, use the form and say so. We will not pretend we can erase hosting-provider backups on command, but we will not keep a private CRM of travellers, because we do not have one.

This statement is general information, not legal advice.

We do not collect driver’s licences, number plates, or trip plans except if you paste them into the form — please do not. We do not run an account database. We do not sell lists. Outbound official links (parks, BOM, transport) are other organisations. FormSubmit’s own privacy terms apply to the transmission of a message. If those terms change, this page should be updated when we notice.

To ask us to look at a message you sent, use the contact form and identify the approximate time and subject. We will not pretend to erase every host log on the internet. We will not keep a private CRM, because we do not have one.

The footer disclaimer on every page is about copyright and trademarks, not about cookies. This page is the personal-information note. About is the editorial note.

Questions the desk answers first

What personal information does 4x4 News collect?+

Name, email and message content if you use the contact form, which is processed by FormSubmit, plus whatever standard hosting logs record (IP address, user agent) for security and uptime.

Official sources

Fees, opening hours and closures belong on the issuing site. We cite the page; we do not copy a price list.

4x4 News is built for posting: news notes, track guides, blog essays and guest copy. We will not invent a headline to fill the gap. If you have a sourced field note, send the outline.
