Contact the 4x4 News desk

Corrections, source updates and guest-post outlines go through the form. We do not run a live tracking desk and we do not want unverified “the track is stuffed” messages as if they were alerts.

Reviewed 17 October 2026

Verify before you travel. Permits, closures, tides, fire bans and track conditions change. Confirm with the parks agency, the state transport site, and the Bureau of Meteorology. This desk does not publish live availability, prices, or invented events.

Use the form on this page. That is the contact answer. 4x4 News is a posting desk, not a roadside assistance product and not a parks call centre.

Tell us if a citation has moved, if a heritage redirect is wrong, or if you have a guest outline that cites primary sources. Do not send us a track report and expect it to become news. Park alerts belong on the agency site. Weather belongs on BOM. If you have both, you do not need us for the emergency; you need Triple Zero or the local police/parks number printed on the visiting-safely page.

What to include

  • Corrections: our URL, their URL, the sentence.
  • Guest outlines: destination or topic, the official pages you will cite, whether you have driven it recently, and what you will not claim (fees, specs, live closures).
  • Partnerships: we are not a manufacturer magazine. If you want a review, say what can be verified.

The form posts via FormSubmit to the fleet editorial inbox. Do not test-submit it. A honeypot field is hidden for bots. We do not auto-publish anything you send.

If you are standing in a park with a genuine safety problem, this webpage is the wrong tool. Use the numbers the land manager published, or 000.

What this inbox is for

4x4 News is built for posting. The inbox is how pages get better and how guest copy arrives. It is also how we learn that a Queensland Parks host has moved again. It is not:

  • a live track-conditions hotline
  • a booking desk for VAPs or Desert Parks Passes
  • roadside assistance
  • a place to argue a fine
  • a manufacturer press list

If you need a permit, use the official booking URLs we cite on permits. If you need weather, use BOM. If you need a road closure, use the state traffic site. If you need help in a hurry, 000.

How to write a useful message

Subject via the topic field. In the box: the URL on this site, the official URL, and the sentence. For guest outlines, the destination, the source list, and the claims you will not make — briefing notes. For praise, a short sentence is enough; we still will not invent a testimonial person.

Do not attach a 40-megabyte video of a snatch. Do not send other people’s number plates. Do not test-submit this form to “see if it works”. FormSubmit’s first real submission is how the inbox activates; we are not going to burn that on a robot.

After you hit send

You should see a confirmation on this page. If you do not, the request may have been blocked by a browser extension. Try again later. We do not publish a phone number for the desk. We do not use mailto as the form — those fail in the ways the fleet already learned.

Privacy: privacy. Independence: about. Guest rules: guest-post.

The form is below. Use it like an adult talking to a small newspaper, because that is what this is.

Editorial response times, without a fake SLA

This is a small desk. We will read corrections before we read pitches, because a wrong permit URL is more urgent than a new essay. We will not send an auto-reply from this CMS. FormSubmit may send its own acknowledgement. If you have not heard back, check spam, then assume we are on the slower side of “a newspaper”, not the faster side of a chat app.

We will not debate a fine. We will not call a ranger for you. We will not tell you a track is open. We will update a citation if you prove it moved.

If you are pitching, say whether you can take edits. If you cannot take the no-invented-numbers rule, do not pitch. The guest page is the standard. The form is just the envelope.

If you are a land manager, Traditional Owner organisation, or council ferry operator, send the canonical URL you want cited. We will prefer your page to ours. If you are a reader who found a 404 on an overnight /posts/ URL, it should already 301; if it does not, that is a bug and the form is how we hear about it. Do not test-submit. The form is below for real messages only.

The form follows. Required fields are name, email, and a message that a human can act on. The hidden company field is a honeypot. If you can see it, leave it empty. If you are a bot, congratulations on the waste of a POST we will ignore.

Questions about a destination belong in the message with the official URL you already checked. If you have not checked one, start with destinations and come back if the citation is wrong. The form is the last step, not the first.

Use this form for corrections, permit-page updates, and guest-post outlines. Do not send live track reports that you have not also filed with the managing agency.

Questions the desk answers first

Where can I contact the publisher?+

Use the form on this page. It is the publishing contact route. We do not publish a live telephone conditions service.

What should a correction include?+

The URL on this site, the official URL that should be cited, and the sentence that is wrong. Screenshots of forums are not a source.

Official sources

Fees, opening hours and closures belong on the issuing site. We cite the page; we do not copy a price list.

4x4 News is built for posting: news notes, track guides, blog essays and guest copy. We will not invent a headline to fill the gap. If you have a sourced field note, send the outline.
